There is nothing more satisfying than the sound of a Hasselblad shutter.
From the loading of the film to the manual rewind it is a process that never fails to bring me joy.
I have been making photographs for over 30 years. When I set out on this journey digital photography was not invented, which dates me I guess., But I am eternally grateful that I learned using analog processes and was taught by people who loved every aspect of what they did.
I bought my first camera when I was eleven, a beautiful Nikon 35mm, a camera that I use to this day.
I was introduced to and fell in love with the photography of Robert Mapplethorpe and Diane Arbus which triggered my infatuation with medium format and Hasselblad cameras. An infatuation that has endured.

In 2001 I moved to Los ANGELES AND, as a newbie looking for work, I was asked by friends to photograph their children.
spending time with them, capturing their innate innocence, humor and unbridled passion for life was an inspiration, and it suited me. I photograph children in the same way I photograph my adult subjects. It’s a dialog, time spent together with me carefully observing who the person in front of my camera really is. I’m not looking for the posed or the perfect. It’s everything in between that I want to find.
Capturing People, and creating portraits is my passion.

over the years I have used digital photography, and I enjoy so much about it but, in recent years, I have found my way back to my roots and to film.
It’s the slowing down, the process, and the collaborative nature that appeals to me. Working closely with my printer, choosing chemicals and paper, and making decisions together. It’s the visual equivalent of recording music on delicious 2-inch tape.
There’s a warmth and a depth that makes it special.

In this age of the fast and the furious, the modern-day appetite for immediacy. My way of working feels meditative and human.
It encourages me, and my clients to slow down. Wait a while, take time. All things that, as I grow, I value more and more.
